Kelsey Baker

Serena Caneva
Serena Caneva is a senior from The Bronx, New York, majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication and minoring in English. She has worked with her local paper, The Bronx Times Reporter. Her projects focus on anti-trans legislation and queer spaces, the closing down of the beloved E Street Theater, and the Adopt a Block program in Washington DC. In her personal life, Serena likes to listen to music, watch movies, go to local museums and thrift stores, and spend time with her friends.

Carolina Carmo
In her final semester at the George Washington University, Carolina is finishing her degree in Journalism and Mass Communications with a minor in American Studies. Throughout her reporting career at GW, she’s reported on multiple facets of the local music scene for WRGW District Radio, connecting with the underground scene that keeps the city lively. For her capstone projects, Carolina’s pulled the lessons she’s learned and invested her reporting in punk music and queer/transgender rights, DEIA and the local Deaf community, and kids’ outlook on their futures in the face of climate change. Outside of GW, Carolina is putting together a local music compilation, called Plenty Happening, in support of gender-affirming care for trans youth.

Kelsey Baker (They/Them) is a senior at The George Washington University studying Journalism/Mass Communication. Kelsey is originally from Atlanta, Georgia and plans to stay in the DMV area following graduation to work in media production. Kelsey is an active member of the GW community and has served as co-president of the Black Student Union, a resident of The George Washington William House, which is a medium for African American culture on the campus of The George Washington University, and a member of a host of other organizations on campus including GW Association of Black Journalists. When they are not focused on academics and social justice, they enjoy listening to music, creating dj mixes, writing, or spending time with friends.


Molly Gill
Molly is a senior from Bradley Beach, New Jersey, and is graduating in May with a degree in journalism and mass communication. Her capstone projects focus on the DC public school system, DEI, and environmental equity. In her free time, she likes to bake, do yoga, and hang out with her cat, Gus.
Nneoma Iloeje
Nneoma Iloeje is a senior from Glastonbury, Connecticut who majored in journalism and mass communications and minored in marketing. Her capstone projects cover discrimination in the medical field, the high costs of education, and the DC Environmental Film Festival. When she isn’t doing schoolwork she is probably fulfilling her Editor-in-Chief duties for the GW Fashion and Business Association or sticking her nose in a book.
Logan Poore
Logan Poore is a senior graduating with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication and minoring in Law & Society. Hailing from just outside Washington, D.C., Logan always felt a strong pull towards the world of media and politics. After graduation, Logan is commissioning in the Marine Corps and then plans to pursue a Master of Arts in Security Studies Policy (MASSP) and Juris Doctor (J.D.) in international law. He spends his free time watching sports, hanging out with his friends, and travelling.




Crosslin Silcott
Avril Silva
Avril Silva is a Venezuelan-American student graduating with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in International Affairs. Originally from Northern Virginia, Silva is active throughout GW, from her time on the GW Women's Soccer team to a reporter for the GW Hatchet. She is also the founder and president of the GW chapter for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. Silva has interned with Hola Cultura and covered the election as an intern and runner for CBS News' Political Unit, with a focus on the environment, health, and politics. After graduation she is pursuing a Master's degree at NYU’s Science, Health, and Environmental Program. She hopes to one day pursue investigative or foreign correspondence in the future with a focus on health, the environment, and politics. In her free time she loves to go for hikes and runs, read, and spend time with her family.

Jenna Stanco
Jenna is an emerging SMPA graduate from Glen Cove, New York. A double major in Journalism and Psychology, her interests include but are not limited to political activism in the digital age, international relations through journalism, and documenting sustainability initiatives. In her personal life, Jenna spends her free time hiking, playing guitar, marathon training, and working on her yoga practice.
Crosslin is an SMPA senior originally from Houston, Texas, majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in Psychological & Brain Sciences. Her interests include storytelling at the intersection of environmental policy, mental health and clear, ethical communication. She previously interned with The Salvation Army National Headquarters, where she supported internal communications and organization-wide messaging. Most recently, she produced a short documentary for her capstone on students and professionals pursuing climate-focused careers amid shifting environmental policy and growing climate challenges. In her free time, Crosslin enjoys thrifting, reading and creating art.



Caroline White
Caroline White is a senior from Westborough, Massachusetts pursuing degrees in journalism & mass communications and marketing. She also works in hospitality public relations as a PR & Social Media Coordinator at Andria Mitsakos Public Relations. In her free time, Caroline enjoys exploring DC, reading, music, and cooking.
